HBPT has recently been approached by some of those concerned about the future of Vectis Hall, a Grade 2 listed building in Ryde built in 1812 as the first free school believed to have been funded by the Great Great G
randmother of the late Princess Diana.
Concerned about its dilapidated state of repair the building was purchased by Ryde Town Council in 2020 with a view to conserving it for future community use. But despite the Council’s valiant efforts no plans have come to fruition and it is understood that the Council are considering a disposal of the building by auction unless a viable plan to rescue it is put in place.
The Trust has offered to assist the Council in finding a viable solution for the building to avoid it from being sold with no future use identified.
